Complementary information on the acquisition process: The procedure consists in the acquisition of SAPA shares and the approval of the subsequent request to become Amodiataire (i.e. long term beneficiary of the berth) by the Mayor. This request can only be submitted to the Mayor by the port's administration. Once a seller and a buyer have reached an agreement, they must contact the port's administration so that the buyer presents himself or herself to the port, so that the seller may pay whatever outstanding service charges there may be on his/her account, and so that all parties can make an appointment to register the new shareholder and begin the procedure to have the Acte d'Amodiation approved by the port's president and the Mayor (representing France). In order to identify himself or herself, the buyer will be required to provide the port's administration with 1) Official Identification, such as a passport, 2) a utilities bill. The seller will have to return the original copy of his or her Acte d'amodiation and have paid any outstanding service charges. For accounting reasons, it often happens that the seller's account with the port be settled at a later date than the sale of the SAEM share. Both parties will be able to communicate or confirm their bank details to the port's director the day the sale of is registered.
