Redeveloping the Port of Beaulieu

Redeveloping the Port of Beaulieu

Redeveloping the Port of Beaulieu

The future Port of Beaulieu perhaps, with a more open architecture and better integrated with the rest of the town.

The Metropole Nice Côte d'Azur, in collaboration with the town of Beaulieu-sur-Mer, is planning a redevelopment and modernisation of the Port of Beaulieu. This plan to be finalised is estimated to possibly cost € 100 million and aims to adapt the port we know today so that it can better contribute to local life and users, such as the city and its residents, boat owners, and businesses and actors in the local economy, in the context of sustainable development, by the year 2018 (to 2020).

The various redevelopment proposals are very innovative. An underground dry storage facility, uncommon in Europe, along a quay could free-up space for more boats. The maritime harbour could be modified so that secondary entrance would be closed off by a yacht quay and so the sailing school be moved to the northern part of the port, close to the beach. In total up to 240 berths could be created. Finally, one of the goals is to improve the "porosity" between the village of Beaulieu and its port, in other words, so that the port and its municipality are more accessible to each other.

This project was exhibited from 25 April to 31 May in the Beaulieu-sur-Mer Townhall, in the context of a public consultation. For more information on this project and to download the project’s presentation brochure, please visit the website of Metropole Nice Côte d'Azur.
